The Institute for Urban Initiatives consists of several community-based and faith-based institutes that respond to the economic, housing, and social needs of neighborhoods, cities, and counties from local community, regional, national, international, and faith-based perspectives.

Greg Richardson is the Strategic Monk. Greg is a spiritual life mentor and coach who guides people and organizations along their spiritual journeys. Strategic Monk provides resources and individual direction focused on spiritual practices and the Rule of Benedict. Greg is a lay oblate at the Benedictine New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California.
Peace Right Here started on the streets of Pasadena, California by founder Paul Gorrell. In a moment a local gang surrounded Paul and what transpired that night played an instrumental role in laying the groundwork for Peace Right Here. In time, Peace Right Here grew into a non-profit organization, working to champion practices of peace in communities and families.
